ANALYTICAL SERVICES

The Analytical Division provides the following services:

-Chemical, and microbiological analyses of raw materials, semi-finished and finished products.

-Provision of parameters for standardization of industrial manufactured products.

-Training in quality control and assurance.

-Routine quality control and safety evaluation checks on foods, drinks, water, cosmetics and industrial raw materials and food products for registration with NAFDAC and for ascertaining standard specifications as set down by Standard organization of Nigeria (SON).

ENGINEERING SERVICES

The Project Development and Design Department renders the following services:

-Design and fabrication of machinery and equipment

-Cutting of various types of gears

-Machining of spare parts

-Glass blowing

-Spark plug refurbishing

-Electroplating of metals

-Metal forming, rolling, cropping and aluminum welding.

-Non-destructive testing of metals and non-metals with foundry     facilities

-Machinery and equipment sourcing, installation and commissioning

CONSULTANCY SERVICES

These are services rendered to the public to assist prospective investors to investigate the economic viability and profitability of specific production ventures. These include: market surveys, feasibility studies, project evaluation, machinery and equipment sourcing, counselling and advisory services.

TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER SERVICES

Technologies are transferred all year round, especially through scheduled training workshops. The objective is to transfer the expertise of FIIRO's researches in commercializable projects to the general public. Several thousands of Nigerians have benefited from about seventeen different technologies over time.

INDUSTRIAL EXTENSION SERVICES

This involves visits to large, medium and small scale industries to identify problems or troubleshoot and proffer solutions to their problems. The service has now been extended to the multinationals to discuss areas of cooperation and contract researches.

Also needs assessment studies are carried out with the Organized Private Sector (OPS) bodies such as NASSI, MAN, NACCIMA, NECA, NASME, in order to identify  market-demand driven researches.

TEXTILE TESTING

All types of fibre, yarn and fabric, including carpets, are tested for various quality parameters such as: yarn length and strength etc. Consultancy for selection of textile products for different uses, and training of personnel in textile quality assessment are also offered.

INFORMATION SERVICES

The Institute has over the years collected and accumulated various information materials covering different areas of technological and economic activities. The Centre's stock includes not only books and journals, but also standards, patents, industrial profiles, trade catalogues, market surveys and feasibility reports. All these are offered for sale at minimal prices
