Processing of agro-industrial raw material like Cassava, Rice, Wood, Fruits produces large amount of liquid and solid wastes, whose accumulation leads to environmental pollution. Chemical or Biological processing can be used to convert agro-waste to value added products like lactic acid, oxalic acid ,citric acid  and other useful industrial chemicals; thereby promoting green technology. In this research study, cassava peel waste was used to produce lactic acid for industrial purposes through acid hydrolysis and chemical catalysis. Fruit and organic waste (orange peel and pineapple peel) were used to produce citric acid using water and solvent extraction. Rice husk was used to produce Oxalic acid using Acid hydrolysis followed by oxidation using Nitric acid. The high content of hemicelluloses and cellulose present in these Lignocellulosic materials make them a reserve of abundant raw material for Chemical conversion to value added products for industrial purposes. Confirmative test was done on the produced lactic and citric acids using high performance liquid Chromatography (HPLC) and Fourier transform infra-red (FTIR) the results were positive. Hence, conversion of agro-waste and industrial waste to value added products will reduce the environmental pollution caused by burning and improper disposal of these wastes in developing countries like Nigeria.
